About DATS
DATS’10 is the Piedmont Triad’s annual Design, Arts & Technology Symposium. Held previously each spring since 2006, the symposium aims to cultivate the creative economy through an exciting venue that brings business and creative talent together, encourages exchanges of ideas, and inspires collaborative ventures.
DATS’10 is the sixth in a series of annual events that began in 2005 as the Digital Arts Symposium. The symposium was made possible by a three-year grant from the Thomas S. Kenan Institute for the Arts to the UNC School of the Arts, which hosted the first three symposia.
As the seed grant wound down, collaborators across the Piedmont Triad committed to sustaining the symposium through an annual rotation among participating sites. UNC-Greensboro hosted DATS 2008 and High Point University hosted DATS 2009. DATS’10 returns to Winston-Salem under the auspices of the Center for Design Innovation, collaborating with regional partners to expand the forum, deepen its roots, and cultivate potentials for economic transformation through creative enterprises.
